ARTISTIC MISSION
St. Martin's seeks to develop and nurture a family-oriented storytelling event which builds community through celebrating our own culture and the many great cultures of the world through oral and digital stories.
All stories included in the celebration should fit within this mission statement.

Stories include folktales, myths, legends, fairy tales, historical tales, bilingual tales, stories of spirituality and healing, tall tales and biographical tales from each continent of the world.
**HEADLINER**
Carmen Deedy, renowned storyteller and award-winning author, will join us as the headline storyteller. Entertaining thousands of adults and children alike with her ultra energetic and charming style, Carmen has recounted her tales of growing up Cuban in Decatur, Ga., for the past decade. She also tells classic folk tales from around the world and is an author of many published children's books, including "The Yellow Star," "Treeman," "The Library Dragon" and many more. She has been a regular contributor to National Public Radio's "All Things Considered" and "Latino USA" and has performed throughout the country gathering awards and honors along the way. Last year she received the Pura Belpre Medal for “Martina the Beautiful Cockroach.”

Other storytellers include St. Martin's own students and faculty. As a special treat for our 50th anniversary school celebration this year, several faculty members will tell stories about the early days of the school.
