Carpool at 3:15: Parents are concerned that 3:15 carpool seems to run so long. Carpool questions can be referred to Kym Hall, ext. 303 and Shirley Carroll at ext. 313.

Conferences:   Parents are encouraged to switch off with a friend and share coverage. The space is limited at conference time. Explorers nor the PTO is able to arrange coverage at this time.

Kindergarten and Pre-1st rainy day recess: Our first choice is to go outside for recess. Our second choice is to exercise, sing and stretch and watch an Educational Video.

Rain Plan for the K & Pre-1st students for the Morning Glory Farm Field Trip, Tuesday, Nov. 10, 2009:
If rain is forecast for Tuesday, Nov. 10 then the field trip to Morning Glory Farm will be rescheduled in the spring.

Instead of the Farm Trip the K & PF classes will be going to the Mayfield Dairy Plant in Braselton. The students will tour the milk production plant and then enjoy an ice cream treat at the end of the tour made at the Mayfield Plant. The classes will then return to St. Martin’s around 12:15 to enjoy their lunches.

We are hoping for better weather in the spring so that the students can enjoy the animals and all the activities on the farm.

The buses will be leaving St. Martin’s on November 10 before 9:00 am for either Morning Glory Farm or the Mayfield Dairy.

Thursday, Nov. 12: We will have a Native American Puppet Show
All EC students will see the puppet show from 9:00am-9:30am.

Native American Heritage Month: Although the first "American Indian Day" was declared by the State of New York in 1916, a month long recognition of Native Americans was not achieved until 1990. In that year, President George Bush declared the first National American Indian Heritage Month. The purpose of National American Indian Heritage Month is to honor and recognize the original peoples of this land.

"American Indians, Alaska Natives, and Native Hawaiians are a special part of the tapestry of our Nation's history," President Clinton said in a National American Indian Heritage Month proclamation on November 9. "This month, we celebrate the culture and contributions of the first Americans. We also remember with sorrow the suffering they endured because of past Federal actions and policies that had long-term and often devastating consequences for Native Americans and their culture."
