Other Extracurriculars

Art Club
Elementary and Middle School students meet after school once per month to create original art in different media.

Chapel Acolytes & Readers
Elementary and Middle School students may participate in school chapel services as lay readers and acolytes.

International Club
Middle School students participate in the International Club with monthly meetings and other activities. Students study international culture, cook and partake of foreign cuisine, hear from guest speakers with various expertise about these countries and enjoy hands-on activities and crafts. They also will take an off-campus field trip.

The Legend (Yearbook)
Ten Middle Schoolers are selected each year to publish the Legend, St. Martin's Yearbook. A 72-page hardcover Yearbook is distributed each spring, with a 16-page full-color supplement distributed in early fall. The book chronicles school activities and includes class pictures.

National Junior Honor Society
St. Martin's National Junior Honor Society (NJHS) chapter is open to students in 7th and 8th grades. This organization is similar to the National Honor Society, of which many high school students are members. The NJHS regulations stipulate five specific criteria to be met by all chapter members. These criteria include excellence in academics, leadership, service, character and citizenship. The academic requirement for membership in the chapter requires a minimum academic average of 3.80.

Outdoor Adventures
Experience the great outdoors! Middle School students are invited to participate in outdoor adventures in biking, canoeing, hiking and rock climbing on four Fridays each semester.

Safety Patrols
Patrols are dedicated students who assist their fellow students in and out of cars during carpool. The group is open to all students in 4th through 8th grade. Students in 5th-8th grade can participate all year, and 4th graders are invited to participate spring quarter. Participating students receive 2 merits each quarter for a 1-3 week shift. Duties include raising and lowering the flag and opening car doors during arrival and dismissal. Registration for patrols occurs during Open House.

The Shield (Newspaper)
Written by Middle School students, the newspaper includes news, sports, lifestyle features and opinion pieces. Students hone their reporting skills and enjoy leadership opportunities as editors. The Shield is distributed five times during the school year.

Student Council
Students in 5th-8th grades are elected by their homerooms to serve as Student Council representatives. Those representatives may then be elected to a position as President, Vice President of School Service, Vice President of Community Service, Treasurer or Secretary. The Student Council hosts three dances per year for the Middle School and works on school service projects.

Technology Club
Students in Technology Club have the opportunity to train teachers on how to use various software applications, help Mr. Nama troubleshoot and fix computer related problems and videotape various productions at school.
