Early Dismissal From Classrooms -- Tuesday, Nov. 24 -- EC 11:30, ES/MS 11:45

Fine Arts

Students may express themselves dramatically by participating in the arts.

The Speech & Drama Club trains students in performing arts including dramatic play, playwriting, stage direction, set design, choreography and costume design. Students perform at quarterly Showcases and at other campus events. Most members of the Speech & Drama Club also will participate in the annual Spring Musical.
Speech & Drama Showcases give students the opportunity to perform short skits or scenes from plays and show their skills from drama class or Speech & Drama Club activities. The Showcases are held two to three times annually.

Spring Musical
St. Martin's students perform in an annual spring musical, held in conjunction with the spring Art Show. Auditions are held each winter with the show performed in March or April. All Middle School students are invited to try out for acting/singing parts or to participate in stage management, set construction and lighting/sound management. Past shows include "Godspell Jr." and "Schoolhouse Rock Live Jr."

Choral Music
The goal of Choral Music is to foster the enjoyment of singing in each student while developing a healthy choral technique and love for music that will last a lifetime. Throughout the school year, choral participants will perform in a variety of settings such as chapel services, School Sunday, Open House, end of the semester concerts, community events and more. In addition to performing, students will study choral repertoire as well as investigate aspects of music theory and history through group and individual class projects.

Instrumental Music is a year-long co-curricular class that meets three times weekly. Students select an instrument (woodwinds, brass and percussion) and learn basic musicianship skills for their instrument, leading to full mastery of the instrument.
They learn note names, note values, time signatures and other musical terms. Students are expected to practice at home. Students perform in selected Chapel services, school assemblies and other school programs and events.
