Application Process
Application materials for the 2010-11 school year will be available Oct. 7, 2009. Please call Director of Admission Blythe Marsau at (404) 237-4260 ext. 709 or e-mail bmarsau@stmartinschool.org to receive a packet by mail or download it here.In the application packet you will find a comprehensive viewbook detailing all aspects of our school life at St. Martin’s. Additionally, you will receive our application (which can also be downloaded from this site), the release of records form which you take to your child’s current school, and a confidential teacher evaluation form which you give to your child’s current teacher. A fee schedule for the school year will be in the information packet and is located on the next page of this section.
Our deadline to receive applications and the application fee of $75 is Feb. 1, 2010.
Testing Procedures
All applicants for admissions (Pre-Kindergarten through 8th grade) will visit the campus in February for an observation, testing or interviewing. You will be notified in writing of the scheduled time for your child.
Applicants for the Pre-Kindergarten will be observed in a small group setting for approximately 45 minutes.
Students applying for Kindergarten through 5th grade must take the Joint Admissions Testing Program (JATP), which is administered by a psychologist in the Atlanta area. Click here for the JATP application brochure. Out of town applicants, click here for additional JATP information.
St. Martin’s is one of 10 area schools that participate in the JATP testing program. Students applying for K–5th will still visit SMES for observation (K for about 45 minutes; Pre-1st–5th for 1 to 1 1/2 hours).
Applicants for 6th-8th must take the Secondary School Admissions Test (SSAT). These students will also visit the campus for placement testing or personal interviews.
Re-Enrollment for Returning Students
Contract packets will be mailed Feb. 11, 2010. Contracts and appropriate deposits must be returned by Feb. 25, 2010.
Notification
St. Martin's Episcopal School is a member of the Atlanta Area Association of Independent Schools (AAAIS) and adheres to a common acceptance notification and reply date. All letters will be sent on April 2, 2010 with new student contracts due on April 15, 2010. See the AAAIS Web site, www.atlantaprivateschools.com for more information.
Financial Aid
The School Scholarship Service (SSS) based in Princeton, NJ, is an independent evaluator of financial aid requests. SSS evaluates parent financial statements submitted by the applicant's parents and/or guardians, determines the level of financial need, and advises member schools of the analysis. SSS forms are available from the Admission Office.
St. Martin's Episcopal School offers limited financial aid determined on a need-based criteria for Kindergarten through 8th grade students. The maximum financial aid dispersed is one-half of a full tuition. Scholarship applications will be available through the admission or business offices on Oct. 7, 2009. The deadline for submission is Jan. 22, 2010. Decisions will be made by a committee, and notifications for current students is the end of February and April 2, 2010 for new applicants.
